Yeah, this is about taking care of your home. If you don’t do it, who will? Sorry to be so upfront, but we’re not sorry. The fact of the matter is so many people neglect their home life for their business, and then the family falls apart.
No business is worth the sacrifice of losing your family and loved ones. So in a more serious post, here are 3 Steps to Have an Amazing Work-Life Balance. Take these to heart, and put them into practice like yesterday.
Step 1 – Wherever You Are, Be All There
This amazing statement came from a missionary named Jim Elliot. He and four others died in the 1940’s. How? They were a team of Christian missionaries who were spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to the indigenous Huaorani People of Ecuador. Regardless of what you believe, this is one of his most famous statements. If you read up on who Jim Elliot is, he practiced this with all his heart and preached it with his life. When he was at home, he would always make sure to spend time with his family, friends, and dearly loved one.
Regardless of where you’re at in life, nothing is as important as those who you call friends and family. Make sure that when work is over, you leave that behind you until the next day. You’ll always have more work to do. But you won’t always get to experience your daughter’s 7th birthday celebration, or your son’s baseball tournament where he struck everyone out in the ninth inning and won the game. Do your best to not miss those moments.
Step 2 – Have Fun
If you don’t have fun, especially having fun at what you’re doing with business, then you’re not living life to the max. Sometimes things can be hard, obstacles will arise, dreams may fail, but those things are many times unavoidable and unpredictable. What is predictable is whether you choose to enjoy precious moments and just go have some fun. Whether it’s playing paintball with the boys, having a ladies night out, watching Netflix and chill (oh snap, watch what you do haha), have fun. Enjoy life. It’ll help you change your perspective on where you’re at, and maybe give some new ideas on what you can do as well.
Step 3 – Meet New People
This is one of those things that can the most rewarding, but also the most nerve racking as well. If you check out our last post on coffee shops, you’ll see this is one of the easiest places to meet people. Find someone who’s either doing a little light reading, scrolling through the phone, or a barista not busy at the moment, and introduce yourself. Strike up a conversation. You never know if you’ll ironically meet your next business partner, close friend, or that special someone. Take the risk and meet someone new today.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. Put these 3 steps into action today to create some more work-life balance in your life. See ya later in our next post.
If you are going to have a “Netflix and chill” type-of-night soon, please shout us out haha
